BARRINGTON — The Ullucci Sports Medicine-sponsored Barrington Eagles Midget football team beat the Fall River Falcons this past weekend 20-0 in town at Victory field in a Rhode Island-Southeastern Massachusetts Pop Warner Football League contest.
Tim Faria again chewed up large chunks of yardage on the ground throughout the game. Faria scored just as the 2nd quarter started on a 4th and goal from the 1 yard line. Colin Vatter added the two point PAT with a excellent hold and snap by Cam Reilly and Sam Bonney, respectively.
Vatter added another score on a 30 yard bootleg to make the score 14-0 at half. Cam Reilly scored in the 2nd half on a counter to result in the final score of 20-0.
Vatter and Reilly hooked up on several crucial pass plays to keep the final few drives alive and assist in running down the clock. William “Crash” Kuhn booted a fine line drive kickoff after the Eagles last score.
Defensive standouts included Brandon Huntoon, Ian Fitzgerald, Dave Guglielmo, Maxx Robey, Erik Earley and Klein Misiurski.
Unfortunately the Eagles lost a stalwart in Maxx Robey as he went down with a serious knee injury late in the game. Robey is out for the remainder of the season.
The Eagles meet Fall River this coming weekend at 630pm in their final home game. If the Eagles win both of their remaining games they will finish 5-2 and are a virtual lock for the fourth playoff spot.
Tiny Mites
The Bagels Etc Mitey Mites won there third straight game over a tough Fall River squad 13-12.
The Falcons opened the scoring but were shut down on the conversion to take a 6-0 lead. Barrington then marched down the field behind some great blocks by Timmy Hoag, Andrew Jameison and Charlie West. William Loew ran for a speedy run around left end to tie it up. Davis Moore followed with a nice conversion run to go up 7-6.
The Eagles defense had a strong stand before halftime to keep the lead led by Cassey Bassignani, Jackson Gorman, Mike Uriati and Thomas Lombardi on d-line. A great long drive behind blocks from Collin Phillips, AJ Prete, Marley Karnes and Mike Cox was caped off by a Brigham Dunphy run. Conner Sullivan had many nice runs to lead the drive down field.
After another Fall River score Loew made an awesome tackle on the conversion to preserve the victory. Strong runs all day by Quinn Gaffney. Big hits on defence by Thomas Rocha, Moore, Scott Gausland and Drew Vatter. Perfect shotgun snaps allday by Thomas Huard and Matt Peecher.
Jr. Pee Wees
The Barrington Jr. Pee Wees lost to the hard-hitting Fall River Falcons on Saturday, 39-6. Once again, the Eagles offense moved the ball well and had several chances to score, but were stopped in the red zone by a swarming Falcons defense. Barrington caught Fall River off guard in the first quarter with a big kickoff return by Will Rywolt, followed by 40-yard touchdown run by Rywolt off a perfect reverse from running back Jake Soares and a great block by Nick Roach.
Quarterback Ben Silvia captained the offense and ran the ball well throughout the game, supported by a strong effort by running back Zach Newberg. Center Hunter Norris continued his streak of perfect games, with excellent shotgun snaps and blocking. Sydney Hoover, Sam Soares, Cole Glazzard and Jon Adamson blocked well throughout the game.
The Eagles defense made several big stops, with key tackles by Matt Walczak, Charlie Paras, Matt DePasquale and Ben Silva. Kyle Greenberg had a key fumble recovery to end a big drive by Fall River. Barrington will play its final home game this Saturday against Fairhaven at Barrington High School.
