Barrington residents 'on the move'

— JEFF MODEN of Auburn Hills, Mich., and formerly of Barrington and Bristol, was elected by judges and the worldwide information technology community as the Exceptional Database Administrator of 2011. The international awards program is hosted by SQLServerCentral, a community website for users of Microsoft SQL Server software with 1.4 million subscribers, and sponsored by Red Gate Software, a supplier of database software tools. DBA (database administrator) is defined by Wikipedia as “a person responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of an organization’s database.” Mr. Moden is lead application DBA and data architect at DiscoverReady LLC, a U.S.-based provider of e-discovery services.

SEAN TAINSH, a 2001 graduate of Barrington High School, recently was awarded the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Ithaca College, Department of Sport Management and Media. The award was given for outstanding achievement and contributions to the sports media industry. He is a 2005 graduate of Ithaca College and is currently the Director of Communications for the America East Conference.

Barrington resident TIM O’KEEFE recently joined William Raveis Chapman Enstone as the Vice President and General Manager for the East Bay region. Tim will be responsible for managing all the real estate sales efforts in the East Bay area including Barrington, Warren and Bristol. Tim has held previous management positions with Verizon, Coleman Realtors and Virtual Homes Real Estate. William Raveis Real Estate is the largest family-owned real estate company in the Northeast with over 2,700 agents in 80 offices including four offices in Rhode Island.

Barrington’s MARC FRECHETTE, owner of Minuteman Press of Seekonk, was among several franchise business owners who were presented with the Top Quality Award at the Minuteman Press International, Inc. World Expo 2011 held recently in Las Vegas. Mr. Frechette was the only owner in New England to receive the award. The Top Quality Award recognizes the excellence of craftsmanship and quality necessary to maintain the high printing standards set by Minuteman Press International, Inc.

The College Crusade of Rhode Island recently announced that MANUEL J. VALES IV, of Barrington, has joined the organization’s board of directors. Mr. Vales is Senior Vice President, Commercial Real Estate Division, for Sovereign/Santander Bank. Mr. Vales previously served as Vice President, Commercial Real Estate, for Sovereign Bank/BankBoston. He is a member of the advisory board for Rhode Island LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), a Trustee of the University of Rhode Island Foundation, and a board member for City Year Rhode Island. Mr. Vales holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and lives in Barrington.

Residential Properties Ltd. recently welcomed Barrington resident JO ELLEN OJEDA to the Barrington office. She joins as a full time sales associate and brings a wealth of legal knowledge to the business that she attained as an RI and Mass attorney. Jo Ellen served as general counsel to Cookson America, a $3B industrial materials conglomerate with US headquarters in Providence. Prior to that, she was general counsel to Fresenius, formerly National Medical Care, the largest dialysis service provider in the world, headquartered in Lexington, Mass. She has also been general counsel to Columbia HCA’s Home Care Division based in Dallas, Texas. She has volunteered numerous hours assisting Seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer’s, in their estate plans and transitions. She serves on the Board of Overseers at Boston College Law School, from which she graduated in 1979. Jo Ellen also holds degrees from Purdue University and a Masters in Journalism from the University of Illinois.
