BARRINGTON To the editor:
Should new drive-up facilities (bank, donut shop, pharmacy, etc.) be prohibited in Barrington?
Should small-scale wind energy systems either free-standing or attached to a building be allowed, by right, in all residential zones?
Should the creation of apartments (by subdividing an existing residence) reserved for low-moderate income housing be allowed, by right, in residential zones?
In February, the Town Council will continue discussion on these and a number of additional zoning ordinance amendments, as well as amendments to land development and subdivision regulations. While many volunteers have spent hours working on these changes, in my conversations with local residents and based on comments from residents at the Town Council’s Jan. 3 meeting, these changes are not widely understood nor have they received much visibility. And while these changes are proposed with the best of intentions, reasonable people will disagree on their impact.
If you are concerned with how the proposed changes may impact your property rights, please attend the upcoming Town Council meeting, understand the issues at hand and voice your opinion.
Thank you.
