Barrington resident Peter Johnson has edited magazines and collections of prose poetry, written stories for young people, and is a professor of literature and creative writing at Providence College. He is currently on sabbatical to work on his own books. His latest, “The Amazing Adventures of John Smith, Jr., AKA Houdini” is set in Rhode Island.

Jon Land ventures into nonfiction writing with ‘Betrayal’

Robert Fitzpatrick, a celebrated FBI agent who sacrificed his career to bring down the notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger, and Jon Land, an author and Barrington native who has penned more than two dozen fiction novels, will sign copies of their new book “Betrayal” at Barrington Books on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Barrington Community Theater will begin its 11th year with the 2012 winter session beginning on Jan. 9. BCT is a town theater program that produces one-act plays with student actors in grades 3 through 12.
